WHEN DRIVING THE CAR FEELS LIKE SOMETHING IS HOLDING THE MOVEMENT OF CAR, MY FRIEND IS A MECHANIC AND TOLD ME ITS THE TRANSMISSION.THIS HAPPENS WHILE THE CARE IS IN MOTION
VEHICLE SHAKES AND STUTTERS WHEN ACCELERATING BETWEEN 0-30 MPH, WHICH IS APPARENTLY A KNOWN AND COMMON ISSUE.
LOUD WHINE, DRIVESHAFT REPLACED
I STARTED MY CRV ON 10/23/19 AND STARTED ON MY WAY TO WORK. WHEN I GOT ABOUT 200 YARDS I NOTICED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, ABS LIGHT, AND THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LIGHTS WERE. I CALLED SCHLOSSMANN HONDA CITY MILWAUKEE, WI, ASKED FOR SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID I WANTED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. I EXPLAINED WHAT LIGHTS WERE ON THE DASH AND INDICATED THEY JUST CAME ON THIS MORNING. THEY SAID THAT I COULD DROP OFF THE CAR THAT AFTERNOON. DROPPED OFF CAR ON 10/23/19 AT 3:45PM. LEFT JESSICA LANGE CALLED ME BACK AT 5:00PM AND TOLD ME THE TIMING BELT HAD TO BE CHANGED BECAUSE IT WAS STRETCHED. THIS HAPPENS. COST TO HAVE THIS DONE WAS $1988.34. I ONLY HAVE 50988 MILES ON MY CRV. THE COST WAS OUTRAGEOUS. I AM 58 AND HAVE OWNED MANY VEHICLES. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE A TIMING CHAIN WITH THIS FEW MILES. I THINK THIS IS RIDICULOUS. ESPECIALLY BECAUSE HONDA NEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM IN PREVIOUS MODELS AND NEVER FIXED IT. I DO LOVE MY HONDA BUT I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE AND WILL GET RID OF THIS ONE BEFORE I REACH 100,000 MILES. HOPEFULLY THE REPLACEMENT TIMING CHAIN WILL LAST THAT LONG.
TRANSMISSION JERKS BETWEEN 25 TO 30 MPH. THIS HAPPENS WITH EVER TAKE OFF. IT HAPPEN WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP OR IF I HAVE SLOWED DOWN BELOW 25 MPH AND AS I EXHILARATE THE TRANSITION JERKS BETWEEN 25 TO 30 MPH.
SHUDDER AT IDLE 2013 CRV. STARTING 80K MILES SOUNDS LIKE SAME COMPLAINT OF RECALLED 2015 CRV . ARE MOTOR MOUNTS SUPPOSED TO FAIL IN ALL OF THIS MODEL?
WHEN GOING FROM 0-30 MPH THE CARE WILL SHUDDER / JUDDER. ONLY HAPPENS AT LOW SPEED LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS TRY TO CATCH. THIS STARTED VERY EARLY WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW. HONDA HAS TWO SERVICE BULLETIN'S (15-086 AND 17-040) THAT RECOGNIZE THIS ISSUE FOR 2013 CR-V'S BUT WON'T RECOGNIZE THE ISSUE FOR MY VIN #. COMMENTS FROM MANY HONDA DRIVERS IS THIS IS COMMON ACROSS ALL HONDA AUTOMOBILES WITH THE CVT FOR YEARS DATING VERY FAR BACK. HONDA SHOULD BACK UP THERE PRODUCT.
WHEN CAR IS IDLE OVERNIGHT OR LONG PERIODS, STARTING THE CAR, THERE IS A LOUD NOISE WHEN TURNING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. TOOK TO MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD HONDA IS NOTORIOUS FOR THIS PROBLEM. WAS TOLD IT'S THE VTC ACTUATOR.
AWD LIGHT WENT ON FOR TWO DAYS. LIGHT THEN STAYED OFF. TOOK IT TO HONDA, THEY WANT TO REPLACE SOLENOID ASSEMBLY.
VIBRATION DURING SLOW EXCELLERATION
WHEN THE CAR IS COLD AT 30 MPH THE CAR VIBRATES. DEALER RESET SOFTWARE ON TRANSMISSION. DID NOT FIX PROBLEM. NOW THEY ARE GOING TO REPLACE REAR DRIVESHAFT.
HONDA 2013 CRV WILL VIBRATE @ 25-35 MILE SPEED FEEL LIKE WHEN ITS SHIFTING TO 3RD ITS HAVING PROBLEM TO SWITCH GEARS FROM 2ND TO 3RD , ONCE ITS ABOVE OR CLOSE TO 40 MILE SPEED , ITS OK, RUNS GOOD. (ALL OILS AND SPARK PLUGS ARE CLEAN, ALSO ALL FILTERS).STARTED NOTICING THIS PROBLEM ON 10 08 16 AND ITS BEEN GRADUALLY MORE NOTICEABLE , EVERYDAY LITTLE BY LITTLE.
VTC ACTUATOR MAKES LOUD GRINDING NOISE UPON STARTUP. MANY REPORTS ONLINE IT IS NOT CLEAR WHAT THE LONG TERM EFFECTS WILL BE.
THERE IS A TSB OUT THAT SAYS THE FLUIDS NEED TO BE CHANGED AND A SOFTWARE UPDATE APPLIED. THE ORIGINAL SYMPTOM IS THE VEHICLE SHUDDER AT START OF ACCELERATION AND DURING SHIFTS BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD. PAID FOR SERVICE STILL HAVE PROBLEM HONDA DEALER IN HOLLYWOOD FLORIDA 2 DAYS AFTER SERVICE STILL SAME PROBLEM. WENT BACK TO DEALER TELLS US ITS TORQUE CONVERTER BUT NOT COVERED. QUESTION IS WHY DIDN'T THEY TEST V DRIVE VEHICLE AFTER SERVICE WORK. BEEN TO SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS TO TEST DRIVE USED CRV BETWEEN MODEL TREAT 2012 TO 2014 ALL HAVE SAME ISSUES. CAR TRAVELS 80 PERCENT CITY STREETS ALONG SAME ROUTE PAST THIS HONDA DEALERSHIP 2 TIMES DAILY. CHECKED SEVERAL HONDA FORUMS AND VARIOUS YEARS ALL POSTING ISSUES DOES NOT MATTER IF LX EX EXL OR 2WD OR AND MODELS EVERYONE POSTS SANE ISSUES. HAVRE EVEN RETIRED DRIVING PINKY ECO MODE OR NORMAL MODE SAME ISSUE SO SOFTWARE UPDATE AND FLUID CHANGE RESOLVED NO ISSUES.
TSB A15-086 DESCRIBES TRANSMISSION ISSUE OF VEHICLE WHEN SHIFTING BETWEEN 2 AND 3 GEARS UNDER LIGHT ACCELERATION. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP IN 2/17 DEALER REPLACED FLUIDS WORKED SMOOTH FOR A WEEK AND STARTED AGAIN. DEALER CLAIMS THEY DID MULTI POINT INSPECTION BEFORE AND AFTER FLUID CHANGE. BUT ONLY DISCOVERED TORQUE CONVERTER ISSUE TODAY. WANTS 1500.00 TO REPLACE TORQUE CONVERTER SOFTWARE UPDATE AND FLUID REPLACEMENT WAS TEMPORARY FIN LASTED A WEEKING SHOWED TSB SAYS NOT PART OF ISSUE IS POSTED ALL OVER MULTIPLE HONDA FORUMS.
ESPECIALLY WHEN COLD UNDER LIGHT ACCELERATION, THE VEHICLE WILL SHUDDER. I THINK IT IS WHEN IT SHIFTS FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR NORMAL SERVICE AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK THIS ISSUE. WENT TO PICK IT UP AND WAS TOLD THEY CONFIRMED THE ISSUE. THEY TOLD ME THE ISSUE WAS REPORTED IN LATER MODELS AND A POSSIBLE FIX WAS TO CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION AND REAR DIFFERENTIAL FLUID AND UPDATE THE SOFTWARE. IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY THE HONDA 5 YEAR/60K MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY OR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PURCHASED WHEN WE BOUGHT THE CAR NEW. I WAS CHARGED $88.00 JUST FOR THEM TO CONFIRM THE ISSUE AND ALSO HONDA WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE. SINCE THEY SAID IT WOULD ONLY POSSIBLY FIX THE CAR AT A COST TO ME OF AROUND $300.00 AND THERE WERE NO FAULT CODES, I OPTED TO FOREGO THE PROCEDURE. AFTER I GOT HOME I FOUND NUMEROUS REPORTS OF THIS PROBLEM ON USER FORUMS. I ALSO FOUND A LINK TO PRINT THE HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN SB 15-086, DATED AUGUST 18, 2016. THAT WAS STATED FOR CRV MODEL YEARS 2012-14. HOPEFULLY THE PROBLEM WILL NOT RESULT IN A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE, CAUSING INJURY OR DAMAGE. HONDA EVIDENTLY DOES NOT BELIEVE IT COULD OR THERE WOULD BE A RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE AND RATTLE WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT AND IN THE DRIVE/REVERSE POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED AND IT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE GEAR SHIFTED FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. THE CONTACT DROVE HOME AND LATER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO ANOTHER LOCAL DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,787.
PREVIOUSLY REPORTED KNOWN HONDA PROBLEM WITH VTC ACTUATOR AT COLD START UP. NOTIFIED DEALER AND AMERICAN HONDA. APPEARS HONDA IS DRAGGING THEIR FEET REGARDING A RESOLUTION. AS THIS CAN AFFECT THE LONG TERM RELIABILITY OF THE POWER TRAIN THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
CR-V STALLS WHEN FOR 3-5 SECONDS WHEN COMPLETING CORNERS. APPEARS TRANSMISSION IS SEARCHING FOR GEARS. DANGEROUS WHEN TRYING TO MERGE ON TO TRAFFIC. HONDA DEALER AND REGIONAL REP AARE AWARE OF PROBLEM, BUT REFUSE TO FIX.VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. *JS
WE TRADED IN A 2005 HONDA CRV FOR A 2013 HONDA CRV. THE 2005 WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AT 70,000 MILES. THE 2013 STARTED WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS THE 2005 AFTER OWNING IT FOR 1 1/2 YEARS. THE CAR WOULD SHAKE AND VIBRATE BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR. I DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM THE SAME WAYS I DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM IN THE 2005 CRV. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY TOLD US IT WOULD HAVE TO GET WORSE. LAST MONTH IT GOT WORSE: IT WOULD HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES PER DAY. THE SHAKING WAS SO VIOLENT FOR UP TO 10 SECONDS THAT I DIDN'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT. THE CAR WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THREE WEEKS AND WAS FINALLY DIAGNOSED WITH A TORQUE CONVERSION DEFECT. TODAY I FOUND OUT THAT HONDA MOTOR COMPANY HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE SHAKING PROBLEM GOING BACK TO 2002. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THEY HAVE NOT ISSUED ANY BULLETINS BECAUSE IT'S NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. THEY ALSO SAID THAT THEY HAD A YOU TUBE VIDEO ABOUT IT. IT APPEARS NOW THAT THE 2005 CRV WE TRADED IN ACTUALLY HAD A TORQUE CONVERSION PROBLEM, NOT A BAD TRANSMISSION. I PAID AND EXTRA $18,000 FOR A CAR THAT I DIDN'T NEED. AT WHAT POINT DOES HONDA MOTORS INFORM THE CONSUMERS AND DEALERS ABOUT THIS ISSUE? WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT THIS WITHHOLDING OF CRUCIAL INFORMATION? THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. *TR
WHEN STARTING THE CAR IN COLD (50 DEGREES F OR LOWER) OR FALLING TEMPERATURES, WITH A COLD ENGINE (NOT RUN FOR AT LEAST 8 HOURS), I HEAR WHAT SOUNDS LIKE A CRANKING SOUND FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AFTER THE ENGINE STARTS. THE CRANKING SOUND LASTS LESS THAN A SECOND AND SOUNDS LIKE SEVERE VIBRATION OF A PART WITH SCREWS/COMPONENTS THAT HAVE COME LOOSE. I'VE RECORDED THE SOUND AND HAVE THE FILE AVAILABLE. THE SOUND DOES NOT OCCUR WITH A WARM ENGINE. *TR
ON 4 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, FROM BEING STOPPED AND MAKING A TURN OR PROCEEDING THROUGH A STOP SIGN, THE CAR HESITATED LONG ENOUGH TO REALIZE THAT "I SHOULD BE MOVING BY NOW AND WHAT IS GOING ON", THEN THE CAR WOULD JERK FORWARD. (DIFFERENT DEGREES OF JERKING). FELT LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. BOUGHT THE CAR IN 9-13. IT HAPPENED 3 TIMES BEFORE THE FIRST OIL CHANGE 1-14. THOUGHT IT WAS ME BECAUSE I WAS REPLACING A 13 YEAR OLD ODYSSEY THAT HAD A BAD TRANSMISSION. INFORMED DEALERSHIP AT FIRST OIL CHANGE AND INSPECTION... WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NORMAL WHEN DRIVING WITH THE ECON SYSTEM. WHICH TELLS ME THEY ARE COMPLETELY AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. AND THAT THERE WOULD BE NOTHING FOR THEM TO FIND UNLESS THE ENGINE LIGHT HAD COME ON. 4TH TIME WAS IN 5-14. ECON BUTTON WAS OFF AND I WAS TURNING LEFT INTO MY DRIVEWAY. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND HONDA CORP. WAS TOLD THEY "UNDERSTOOD MY FRUSTRATION" AND WOULD DO WHAT COULD TO FIND OUT THE PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP DROVE THE CAR AND COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND SAID THE CAR IS RUNNING"AS WAS DESIGNED". THAT'S RIGHT...UNTIL IT DOESN'T. THERE ARE COUNTLESS COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET OVER MANY YEARS. WAS TOLD BY HONDA THEY DON'T CHECK THE INTERNET. EVEN IF THAT WERE TRUE, WHAT ABOUT THEIR DEALERSHIPS SERVICE CENTERS? IT IS NOT SAFE! MY OLDEST IS A NEW DRIVER. I THOUGHT I WAS BUYING A SAFE CAR. *JS

I STARTED TO NOTICE A CROAKING (SOUNDS LIKE A FROG) NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WHEN LIGHTLY ACCELERATING FROM A STOP IN DRIVE OR REVERSE AND RIGHT BEFORE I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR A YEAR, WHICH I PURCHASED NEW AND THIS SOUND STARTED AFTER 11 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE NOISE IS COMING FROM A NOISY REAR DIFFERENTIAL PUMP MOTOR (PART OF THE AWD SYSTEM) PER A MANUFACTURERS TECH LINE SUMMARY ARTICLE. PER THE DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURER, THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND IS CURRENTLY WORKING ON A FIX, BUT DOES NOT HAVE ONE TO DATE. MANUFACTURER HAS INSTRUCTED DEALERSHIPS NOT TO REPLACE ANY REAR DIFFERENTIAL PUMP MOTORS AT THIS TIME. *TR
