There is a recall out for Ford vehicles for the pillars outside of the windshield, mine flew off the windshield while driving in the interstate. I called ford trying to schedule an appointment because the same thing happened to my boyfriend’s grandma and she told me there was a recall. I was informed that my vin was not apart of the safety recall for whatever reason. The car is available for inspection upon request. I feel as if my car repair should be covered because it clearly is not a safe model of the 2015 ford explorer and the same thing is happening with other vehicles that are covered under the recall.
Backup camera picture is distorted if it works at all. There is a recall on this part (25v695). Contacted dealership and said that it only pertains to a mustang for this month.
I was on the highway when the passenger side Exterior A-Pillar Applique Trim had detached from the SUV. There was a car behind me, not close at all, and the thing almost hit that car. No one got hurt but the driver and myself both were visibly upset. No police or emergency services were needed. As stated in my previous complaint, I have horrible anxiety issues. When that happened, I had an anxiety attack. I thought consumers were supposed to feel protected and safe in there vehicles. I am in the process of retaining legal counsel to address this safety defect and its impact that its had, twice now, on other drivers as well as myself. The backup camera only works intermittently. Sometimes there will be a black screen that says somethings wrong and to contact the dealer but this has been an issue for the past couple years or so. I saw there was a recall for many other for vehicles of this age for the backup camera but not for the Explorer. I was shocked when I didn’t see it was included.
My back up camera doesn't work all the time. It is very intermittent.
REAR BACK UP CAMERA IMAGE IS REVERSED NOT ALWAYS IN COLOR CAMERA STAYS ON ONCE VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE FOR SOMETIMES UP TO 20 SECONDS IMAGE IS NOT DISPLAYED AT ALL TIMES WHEN IN REVERSE AND WHEN THIS HAPPENS, WITHIN 24 HOURS THERE IS A 'SYSTEM UPDATE' THAT AFFECTS INFOTAINMENT SCREEN INCLUDING BLUETOOTH
THE EXTERIOR A-PILLAR APPLIQUE TRIM CLIP ATTACHMENTS ON BOTH SIDES OF MY VEHICHLE HAVE LIFTED OFF THE VEHICHLE AND THE MANUFACTURER HAS FAILED OR HAS BEEN UNABLE TO REMEDY THIS SAFETY RECALL IN A TIMELY MANNER.
Rear backup camera does not function. Either gives a blank image or a flipped/reversed image or a very grainy image. It has been properly inoperable for years, since at least 10/1/2022. Why were Explorers not included in recall 25V57200? The cameras were the same as the Edge and Expedition which were included, and I believe the same for the Mustang.
Backup camera not functioning properly (goes black in the middle of backing up and says “contact dealership”). I saw an article online that my car may have been affected by the backup camera recall. I brought my car to the dealership and they said my VIN was not affected but I have the problems listed. I contacted Ford and reported this with Customer Care Department (Case #: CXH-05669623-J5P1M4). They said that’s all I can do. I have small children all under the age of 5 and fear backing up in my driveway. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
My backup camera is reversing or going blank intermittently . It even turned upside down one time. Ford says I am not included in the recent recall, yet I have the same problem that is being recalled.
For about the last 3 years, whenever the car is put into reverse, the rear backup camera is intermittently going blank. The camera eventually will display the image, but it can be several seconds before the camera view resumes. The Ford dealership wants to charge about $700 to replace the entire camera, but I don't think the camera is the issue given that so many recalls have been issued over the exact same issue. There have been multiple recalls issued by Ford for the same issue, but I can't find one on the 2015 Ford Explorer-Limited line.
Rear back up camera is glitching in and out and at times goes completely black or won’t come in at all once put in reverse
The exterior A-pillar trim part is loose causing water to leak through. You can hear/feel the air in the corner of the windshield as the SUV is moving. I have tried several times since receiving this recall notice in FEBRUARY 2024 to get this fixed and replaced through FORD. Each time brought my car in for service over the past 18 months, I was told that the part was not available but was on back order. In the meantime, water and moisture gets through causing a smell and mold. This is a health and safety issue. How do I get this repaired?
The back up camera only works occasionally because of the height of vehicle it is difficult to back up safely . Sometimes the camera works and other times it sends a message to contact the dealer
My backup camera is malfunctioning. 1st incident I was backing out of a parking spot, and the camera screen just blacked out, and 2 pedestrians were walking behind my car, and the 2 seconds later the car started beeping, warning me of the pedestrians, I almost hit them. 2nd time i was backing out of my parking spot at work, and a coworker was walking behind my car, the camera gave me a warning that the camera was malfunctioning, and then started beeping like crazy, but the camera did not turn on. 3rd time i was backing out at a store, and a car just flew by narrowly missing me, and the camera did not turn on, My camera has been malfunctioning off and on now.
Malfunction of rear view camera, available upon request. When in reverse the camera will go black and read "Camera is Unavailable. Please contact your dealership." It will not attempt to show a live picture until placed back into park and into reverse again. Often it will not function correctly even after that. It now happens almost constantly to the point it is completely unreliable. The fear of endangering someone or something by relying on a rear view camera that I know could malfunction at any moment, is too great. The problem was witnessed by a Ford Dealership mechanic who was repairing the recall on the frame piece to the windshield. The mechanic attempted to resolve the issue by resetting/updating the display, but unfortunately the problem continues. No other representatives, police, insurance, etc have witnesses the issue. There are never any warnings the issue may occur.
My backup camera does not always work. Just get a black screen
Backup camera either shows black screen, or a warming box appears stating to see dealership. Will work intermittently.
The back up camera on my explorer has been experiencing intermittent failure for about the past month. It started by occasionally losing the parking lines while I was in reverse, and has progressed to a black screen while I'm in the process of backing up. Sometimes it's just a glitchy image, and sometimes it goes in and out while in reverse. The component has not yet been inspected. There were no indications of a problem before the issue began. This is concerning because the height of the vehicle does not allow me to see objects that are directly behind the vehicle, such as the neighborhood children running around. I experienced this failure on a rainy day with low visibility and backed into a mailbox.
CAR SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING. THEN GOT IT FIXED @FORD DEALER. DROVE FOR A WHILE THEN CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AGAIN A FEW WEEKS LATER. BACK IN THE SHOP. SUPPOSEDLY FIXED THEN THE ISSUE WAS IT NOT STARTING AT ALL WHEN I GO TO GET IN THE CAR. THESE TYPES OF SITUATIONS HAPPENED 4 TIMES SINCE JULY AND THEY KEEP REPLACING PARTS BUT NOT RESOLVING THE ISSUE! I AM TIRED OF SPENDING MY MONEY FOR NO RESOLUTION. THEY ARE DOING NOTHING BUT TAKING MY MONEY AND CHANGING PARTS THAT WERE POTENTIALLY FINE! I AM A REPEAT FORD BUYER AND ONLY HAVE 107,235 MILES THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. BUT THE SAFETY OF MYSELF AND MY FAMILY ARE MAKING ME RETHINK A 3RD PURCHASE EVER GOING FORWARD! THIS IS MY 2ND TIME FILING A REPORT I HAVE HEARD NOTHING ON THE PREVIOUS ONE FILED ON 11/22/24. THE 2015 EXPLORERS' NEED TO BE INC IN THE RECALL!
We received the February 2024 notice but not the July 2025 recall notice stating the parts were available. We took our vehicle in for other work during August 2024 and Helena Motors took our A-pillar appliqué trim off without notifying us. They said it was loose but we hadn’t notice that. In fact, my spouse cleaned the windshield and pillars the day before are appointment and the A-pillar trim was tight. They said they didn’t have the parts for replacement but would order them and contact us. We contacted them in September and they said the part wasn’t ordered but they would order it and let us know when it was in. This behavior has continued and we still don’t have the replacement part on the spot where they removed the part. We have been getting the runaround from Helena Motors for six and half months. Employees that are suppose to be getting the parts don’t return calls.
The odometer has been tampered with. Per the CARFAX the last reported odometer reading was at 218,737, and now it reads 160,000. We just bought the car today and are figuring this out afterwards. We have all the evidence. Please contact me as this has never happened to us and we do not know what to do.
I have been having issues with my vehicle's backup camera for about 3-4 years. Initially, the backup camera rarely went black when I reversed so I was not very concerned Over the years, it has worsened that now every time I drive the camera goes black at least once when I drive my car. There has been no incident due to the camera issue; however, I have had some close calls due to the backup camera not working. The warning beep does work when the backup camera does not. A couple years ago I did inquire about a recall which there was none so instead I asked dealership for a quote on the cost of replacing the camera which was very expensive. I did not not replace it at the time due to the cost and do not foresee doing so in the future for that reason. I learned about the recent backup camera recall but it does not include my vehicle. Thank you for your time.
My vehicle’s backup camera does not work about 98% of the time and a black screen will show up with a message saying it is not working. Once in a great while it will actually work.
The back up camera works on and off. I nearly hit a person when the camera suddenly stopped working. Thank goodness I was backing up very slowly and the guy knocked in my rear window.
